Annika Müller, born in 1981 in Ludwigsburg, Germany, studied journalism, communication science and German linguistics and literature in Hamburg, Germany, and Bilbao, Spain. She worked for several daily newspapers (including national ones) before she started to be a freelancer based in two countries: Spain (Catalonia) and Germany. She writes for daily newspapers and magazines mostly in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Her regular clients are „Neue Zürcher Zeitung“, Switzerland, „Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung“, Germany, „Stuttgarter Zeitung“, Germany, „TAZ“, Germany, „Sonntag Aktuell“, Germany, „Trekking Magazin“, Germany, „Bike & Travel“, Germany, „Kajak Magazin“, Germany, „Outdoor Magazin“, Germany, „Panorama Magazin“, Germany, „Land der Berge“, Austria, „Bergauf“, Austria, „Bergwelten“, Austria, „Alpin“, Germany, „ADAC Urlaub“, Germany, „Spiegel online“, Germany, „Zeit online“, Germany, and many others. Her main focus lies on Outdoor sports and adventure travels even though she is as well covering politics and social issues (focussed on Spain and Catalonia) and culture (classical music, literature). She is also an author of several hiking guide books about Spain, published by German editorials „Rother Bergverlag“ and „Conrad Stein Verlag“. With photographer Claudia Ziegler she published a book on young climbers („young savages“, editorial: Panico Alpinverlag 2014) which celebrated international success. In february 2019 she won the Spanish journalism price for travel journalism „Pica d’Estats“ in two categories: „Best international work“ and „best work of the year“. In 2004 she won the „youth journalist“ price announced by the German government.
